In terms of quality supervision of online cable products, relevant national departments have conducted multiple random inspections of wire and cable product quality at different times and regions, targeting production enterprises, distribution enterprises, and online sales enterprises. Strengthen control over the quality of wire and cable products.

In terms of online cable product certification, the National Certification and Accreditation Administration organized local quality inspection departments to supervise and inspect certified products in key consumer goods such as wires and cables included in the mandatory product certification catalog, covering 2451 batches of products from 1676 enterprises in the production, circulation, and import fields. Unqualified certified products were revoked or cancelled with mandatory product certification certificates.

Behind the repeated strong quality inspection and supervision work is the improvement of quality awareness in China's wire and cable industry. With the increase in national regulatory efforts, media exposure has increased, and the number of unqualified enterprises has increased, which has sparked more thinking.

According to data, in 2018, a total of 984 companies were notified of product quality, with 1885 notifications, 15 indicators of non-conforming items, and 2825 notifications of non-conforming items, an increase compared to last year. Among them, in 2018, 98.89% of the reported reasons for wires and cables were due to quality issues, while 1.11% were due to quality and performance issues. Among the types of wire and cable products that did not pass the spot check, the proportion of wire laying ranked first at 36.07%, power cables at 29.44%, and overhead insulated cables at 13.95%.

"Non standard" cables gradually withdraw from the historical stage

It is understood that Beijing Tonghui Kunyu Wire Co., Ltd. and Beijing Kunlun Xingye Wire and Cable Co., Ltd. have successively filed recall plans with the local market supervision and administration bureau, actively recalling defective products. With increasingly strict quality supervision, cable recalls may become a routine practice for cable companies in the future.

Since 2014, with the increase of national regulatory efforts, most cable companies have realized the severity of quality problems and insisted on producing national standard products. Industry insiders told reporters that due to the large price difference between national standard cables and non-standard cables, some profit oriented enterprises are selling "non-standard" cable products as inferior ones. This phenomenon has improved in recent years, and most cable companies adhere to national standards for cable products.

In recent years, the number of quality supervision and spot checks in the wire and cable industry has been increasing, and more and more enterprises with poor product quality are unable to escape the "legal trap". The way to improve quality has roots to follow. Through the research on the quality data of the wire and cable market in China, we objectively analyze the problems such as bad behavior enterprises, unqualified products, and major unqualified situations, clarify the industry problems, and enhance the public's awareness of the current quality of wire and cable products. Ultimately, promoting the construction of a quality and integrity system for cable products is not an overnight task, and it still requires the joint efforts of relevant national departments, enterprises, and society from multiple dimensions.
